Enigma

You are the riddle,

         The hidden enigma,

                  Baffling logic at every hand.

Strafing the surface of

         Broad ambiguity,

                  Asking for tunes meant to stump the band.

 

Vaguely perplexing,

         This minion of madness

                  Hailing and howling its song to the stars.

Building your case in

         The court of emotion.

                  Praying for time to heal all of the scars.

 

You never wavered.

         You never faltered.

                  You never begged for a second chance.

Always a champion,

         Always a lover,

                  First to the footlights,

                            Ready to dance.
