I sat down with an anxious thought
Wondering what this could be.
Expectations came flooding in
With a feeling akin to dread.
But amazement soon took over
At the words that she said.

“Let’s grow old together.

I couldn’t help but feel relieved
And a little surprised.
So, I took her hand in mine
And looked into her eyes.
