Morality

They tend to dwell on
A sliding scale,
Ebbing, flowing,
Shrinking, growing,
Ever-changing, rearranging
Facts and figures to adapt.

But morals yield to
Fits and quarrels,
Cede to greed and
Clashing creeds til
Standards rise to
Meet the eyes and
Probity is firmly mapped.

We are children of
The children of
The children of “the Child.”
Following millennial traditions
As if blind.
The linchpin of integrity
Not to be defiled,
Morality is never quite defined.
