Blank Pages

I’m staring at this mountain of blank pages
Wondering just what I should do.
Maybe I could write a brand new love song
And dedicate my heart and soul to you.
Words should fall right out of the heavens,
Ink should flow onto the empty lines,
But no words I can think of do you justice.
I don’t know what to write to make you mine.

You don’t need to worry ‘bout a love song.
Actions speak much louder anyway.
I may keep on staring at blank pages,
But I’ll show you that I love you every day.

I may not have the gift of gab to tell you,
May not be the man of letters you desire,
Can’t put the words together that will show you
How just the thought of you can start my fire.
I may not have a vast vocabulary,
And I don’t have a muse to stir my soul,
And even though the pages
May not have an ink stain on them
My love for you is made of purest gold.

You don’t need to worry ‘bout a love song.
Actions speak much louder anyway.
I may keep on staring at blank pages,
But I’ll show you that I love you every day.
